It should be remembered that January in New Zealand is the height of summer, and Queenstown is a very popular destination. Hotels and car hire (if required) should be booked well in advance.
Accommodation tip: check before booking that your accommodation is within easy walking distance of the Millennium Hotel venue - you will arrive more relaxed for your games! This should be easy, as there is a wide choice of places to stay in Queenstown.

There are many car hire companies in Queenstown, and you will find car hire quite cheap and hassle-free in New Zealand. The car hire companies all offer airport pickups whether or not they maintain a counter at the airport. It would be prudent to book in advance, as January is a popular holiday time.
